faith milestones.

For my whole life, I have been a member of the same church. Before me, my great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents. As M and I get ready for another transition in our lives, I have been doing a lot of reflecting on the faith milestones which have connected me and my family members with Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Springfield, Va.

When my grandparents, Tunstall and Claire moved to Northern Virginia in the 1970’s, my aunt, Missy was confirmed.

My parents were married in 1983.

The funerals for my great-grandparents, William and Emma Zander were both held at Prince of Peace in the late 1980’s.

My brother, Jacob, sister, Rebekah and I were all baptized, received our first communion and confirmed throughout our childhoods.

M and I were also married at Prince of Peace back in 2010. We tried to recreate some of the same pictures my parents took on their wedding day. (Not pictured here)

When my grandfather, Tunstall passed away in 2012, his funeral was also held at Prince of Peace.

And even more recently, we were able to witness the Ordination of M into the Office of the Holy Ministry.

So many events, joyous and bittersweet have connected the faith of our family to this church and it is so hard to believe that after 26 years, I will be changing my membership. I can only hope to look forward to celebrate new faith milestones at our new church and faith community in the years to come.

And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you. Genesis 17:7
